| Nico Comoglio
better known as Nik, was born in Torino on 28/11/62.
He received a high school science diploma and a degree in architecture.
He studied piano privately with Maestro Roberto Musto and composition with Maestro Aldo Sardo.
He became interested in music during his time at university while working for several recording studios in Torino, where he created several jingles for ads and the soundtracks for two films shown at the Festival Cinema Giovani (Youth Cinema Festival) in Torino: Piu per gioco che per passione (More For Fun Than Passion - which received the Aiace Award 1983) and Voglia di Fragola (A Desire for Strawberries).
From 1990 to 1993, he formed the new prog group, “SYNDONE”, with whom he made two CD’s: “Spleen” e “Inca”, produced by Beppe Crovella from “Arti & Mestieri rock progressive band, for the music label Vinyl Magic s.a.s. in Milano.
In 1996, live concerts in London with a local rock-blues band.
Later, he collaborated with the ad agency J.W. Thompson in Milano, creating the music for several spots (Pioneer, Palio, and Martini).
From 1996 to 1997, he collaborated with the actor and singer Duilio del Prete in the staging of a theatrical show about Jacques Brel, arranging and playing live several of the best known songs by the Belgian artist interpreted in Italian by Del Prete.
From 1999 to 2002, he composed the musical “Il Sogno di Itaca” (The Dream of Ithaca), which was inspired by the last part of Homer’s Odyssey and Ulysses’ return to his homeland.
In 2003, he created the soundtrack for the short film noir “Password” by the director Pasquale Ruju.
From 2004 to 2005, he composed and created the album, TAROT – La Spirale del Tempo (The Spiral of Time) – a modern opera in the form of a suite, inspired by the symbolic figures of the Major Arcana (trump cards) in the Tarot deck.
2007 – He created the opera/musical, “Anima Di Legno” (Wooden Soul) for baritone, soprano, light voice, chorus, and orchestra plus jazz octet.
Based on the tale, Le Avventure di Pinocchio (The Adventures of Pinocchio) by Carlo Collodi, this work musically enlarges and develops the idea of the Florentine writer, Rodolfo Tommasi, of rereading the famous book symbolically, which is found in his book, Pinocchio, Analisi di un Burattino (Pinocchio, Analysis of a Puppet), 1992, Sansoni, Firenze,
At present, Nik works at his recording studio, DISCODARTE, in Torino where he creates demos, ads, jingles, background music, and works for soloists and groups – classical and not.He transcribes scores using the SIBELIUS program; he collaborates with singers and musicians from the Torino area, not to mention chorus members and instrumentalists from the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatorio in Torino as well as students from the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Archi in Saluzzo.
